Resumen
Esta tesis refleja una investigación desarrollada en el campo de la Archivística histórica en el marco de la Maestría en Enseñanza Universitaria.
Se expone en ella el abordaje del proceso de institucionalización de la carrera de Archivología en la UDELAR, desde el momento de su creación hasta aquel en el cual el diseño curricular alcanzó una consolidación perdurable.
Esta investigación, respondiendo al modo de generación conceptual, ayuda a entender dos cosas fundamentalmente. Que los primeros docentes de la carrera de Archivología y el diseño curricular de la misma fueron la mejor alternativa de la que se dispuso para crear la nueva carrera y que el cambio de Plan de Estudios concretado en 1987 fue expresión de un genuino progreso pero no anulador del que ya estaba en marcha.
Los resultados alcanzados confirman que sería un error, continuar descalificando el origen de la carrera por haber acaecido durante la última dictadura cívico-militar, sin aportar nueva evidencia y argumentación.

Abstract
This thesis reflects an investigacion developed in the field of historical Archivistics, in the framework of the degree in university teaching.
It is exposed in it the boarding of the institutionalisation process of the degree in Archivology in the UDELAR from the moment of its creation to the one which the curricular design, reached consistent consolidation.
This investigation responding to the conceptual generation mode. It helps to understand fundamentally two things; the first teachers of the Archive science career and its curricular design, are the best alternative provided to create the new career, and the change of Study Plan materialised in 1987,was the expression of a genuine improvement ,but did not override the former in progress.
The achieved results confirm that it would be a mistake to continue disqualifying the origen of the career without providing new evidence and argumentation.
